What we do

The Oblate Mission Development Office, with your support, is helping some of the poorest people on earth to shape a better future for themselves and their children. Among the projects we fund or are seeking funding for:
- Emergency relief from Haiti to Pakistan
- Education and skills training programme to help disadvantaged adult women participate as equals in their families and communities (Democratic Republic of Congo)
- Construction of clinic, including maternity care unit, in rural Democratic Republic of Congo
- Emergency food, clothing and medical aid to vulnerable victims of recent natural disasters in Haiti and Pakistan
- ‘Youth for Life’ programmes where young adults work to change the cultural attitudes among their peers that lead to the spread of HIV/AIDS, and to build instead a culture of life (South Africa/Zimbabwe/DRC)
- Technical skills education for disadvantaged young people in Indonesia
- Support in Haiti for children in domestic service (slaves in all but name)that is enabling them attend school and receive at least one full meal a day
- Orphan care support in Zimbabwe
- Healthcare and communications infra-structural equipment in Madagascar
- Fresh water projects in DRC and Zambia
- Peace and reconciliation initiatives in Sri Lanka
