Seamus Finn OMI - The case for Overseas Aid

hrbg

Cork born Fr Séamus Finn OMI has been a member of the Justice/Peace and Integrity of Creation Ministry team of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate since 1986. The office supports the work of the congregation especially the Justic Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) dimension and is also responsible for the Faith Consistent Investment/Socially Responsible Investment programme both for the United States and for the congregation.

Séamus has represented the Oblates at the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility in New York since 1988 and serves on the board. He represents the Oblates on the executive committee of the International Interfaith Investment Group. He believes that the active integration of the faith and values of the religious community into their advocacy efforts in the public sector, with corporations where the Oblates are shareholders and into their financial investment decisions can be a leaven for promoting sustainable human communities and more responsible corporations.

Séamus is a regular visitor to Ireland and on his last visit to the Mission Development Office (MDO) in Dublin we asked him to make the case for continuing Overseas Development Aid at a time when there are so many demands on a weakened economy. The interviewer is Fr Paul Byrne from the MDO.
